First of all, welcome to my Blog!
You have found something that will be both very rewarding and challenging. There are no shortcuts to learning about Gor. It is a daily process of learning, reflecting and applying to daily living what we learn. Some people tend to forget is that living and being Gorean is a journey. There was a time in everyone’s life that they took that first step. That many have made a conscientious decision to stand, believe and and call oneself a Gorean.
With every personal journey, there will be roadblocks, opposition and pitfalls. We have all stumbled and fallen. It is what happens when we are young and zealous. (Some may not admit this, but it is true of everyone). There will also be triumphs and successes.
There are some that you may meet online that revel in the struggles and failures of others. They love to tear down and belittle anyone new or just starting out on their own journey. They are easy to spot. That is because it makes them feel important and successful, or that they are ‘better’ at hiding their own struggles and failures. Most of these people are either insecure or made themselves self appointed voices of Gor.
With each journey, we strive for the goal of the Gorean Philosophy. Some days we all do a better job than other days. Look around you and find people that can support and encourage you in your journey. Remove the people that will make you stumble and fall.
I spoke this morning at our assembly about stumbling and falling in our journey. It does not have to be the end. Pick yourself back up and move on. Learn from your mistakes and own up to them, then leave them behind. There is a song that we play sometimes that has these lyrics in the chorus –
What if I stumble, what if I fall?
What if I lose my step and I make fools of us all?
Will the love continue when my walk becomes a crawl?
What if I stumble, and what if I fall?
Find a local group to assemble and discuss all things Gor. Read the Books. Discuss the dances. Study the positions. The mannerisms. The attributes. Understand the Philosophy. Live the lifestyle. Develop the relationship between Master and slave. Enjoy the inward workings of one’s own slavery. There is so much to discuss, and everyone will have a different perspective, insight and outlook because of their own journey.
Here are a few things you should know –
- Read the Books.
- Study the Books.
- Understand the Philosophy
- Strive to live the Philosophy.
- Do not take anyone’s opinion as right. Study and draw your own conclusions based on the Books and the Philosophy.
- Do not share personal information about yourself unless you choose.
- If meeting anyone real time, always have a safe call.
- Slaves are to be mindful of their position and be respectful.
- The Free should also be respectful.
- This is a discussion group, not someone’s house. At times opinions and discussions can get heated.
- If you are spending too much time online here, step away from the computer and enjoy life for real, away from online.
What draws Goreans together is the Books, the Philosophy and the Lifestyle.
The real Gorean community is to build up and support one another. To encourage one another in their own journey. To be a living testimony to everyone around us in our daily lives. Leave the tearing down and destruction of others to those who do Gor online.
